Fort Irwin Child, Youth & School Services (CYS) is a network of systems and programs through which Fort Irwin provides quality child and youth development options that reduce the conflict between parental responsibilities and unit mission requirements. The objectives of CYS are to support readiness and contribute to the quality of life of families by providing developmentally appropriate care options for children and youth. CYS includes full-day, part-day and hourly child care programs; before- and after-school care programs; middle and teen programs; family child care; team sports and outreach sports programs; and resource and referral for on and off post. CYS programs are designed to foster and develop children's physical, intellectual and socio-emotional capabilities regardless of the setting or length of time in care. Programs include:

School Age Services is located ar Bldg 1315 on Meuse Argonne Street. SAS is open during the school year on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri from 6:00am to 5:30pm and on Wed/Early-Out days from 12:30pm to 5:30pm. SAS summer hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 5:30pm. (SAS) provides a caring and supervised atmosphere where children enjoy directed and self-directed activities at the SAS facility. SAS offers a morning program from 0600-0830 and an afternoon program from 1430-1730 for children enrolled in Child and Youth Services (CYS) and currently in the 1st-5th grade. Children in the 6th-8th may also enroll in our before school program. Currently SAS has openings for the before school program.

A nutritious USDA breakfast is served to all of our before school children at 0645-0715 as well as an after school snack at 1510-1525 or 1520-1535. Wednesday’s snack is at 1430-1445.

All children must be registered with CYS prior to enrollment in our Before School Program. The annual registration is free.

Fees are based on the Total Family Income (TFI). Fees are semi-monthly, and due on the 1st and 16th of each month.

Hourly care is available in the SAS program for parents who need occasional care while attending meetings or medical appointments, volunteering or needing respite care. It is not meant to take the place of regular care needed by part time or full time working parents. Parents who require daily regular, reoccurring care will be referred to the program that will best fit their needs. Payments are based on hourly care fee of $3.00 per hour per child/youth. Category I patrons will be charged $2.00 per hour per child/youth. Reservations for SAS hourly care may be made up to 30 days in advance.

The School Liaison Office (SLO) is located at Bldg 1300 on Meuse Argonne Street and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Give us a call at 760-380-6880.

The Fort Irwin Army School Liaison Services (SLS) is here to help you and your student with school related questions or concerns. SLS is an Army-wide program designed to link parents, schools, schools districts and commands. Our office provides a wide range of resources and information on public, private, charter, and home schools in the local area, to include registration, curriculum, special education services, transportation, volunteering, extra-curricular activities, scholarships, and more. We can also make transitioning to a new school easier by providing information on receiving schools in other states before your move to another duty station.

Register your child or children in the Youth Sports Program. We offer Outdoor Soccer, Flag Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and T-Ball. Youth sports programs provide children with a healthy activity that enhances teamwork, physical fitness and friendships.
