New Edgy, Entertainment-Themed Venue on Fort Irwin Expected Draws Crowds
Shock Wave provides top-notch entertainment and food in a new high-energy atmosphere

FORT IRWIN, Calif. -- Fort Irwin’s Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation department unveils its newest entertainment hot spot known as Shock Wave. OuterLimits was replaced by Shock Wave as Fort Irwin’s premiere destination for fun and good food.
“We did market research to find out what young Soldiers would like to see in an entertainment facility,” said Barry Pinsky, operations officer for Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation.” The name was voted on by various garrisons around the country.
Although Shock Wave will be in the same building that once housed OuterLimits, the similarities stop there. Shock Wave has a completely different theme and concept. “OuterLimits was a sports bar-focused entertainment center and Shock Wave is going to be a high-energy entertainment center.”
The concept isn’t the only thing that is different. The building is undergoing a $600,000 facelift. The walls are being opened to allow patrons to enjoy a modern loft-like space. The interior is both edgy and sophisticated, allowing the space to be used for casual dining as well as energetic nightlife. Sofas have been added for relaxing and to facilitate conversation. The bar rivals those seen in any large city.
Project managers painstakingly chose an interior design that would convey the facility’s concept. “The décor of Shock Wave is modern and high-energy, with a touch of class.”
Although nightlife is a large part of Shock Wave, sports events are hosted inside as well. Patrons can watch sports games on big screen televisions throughout the week.
In addition, Shock Wave hosts special themed events like BBQ night, dance parties, Karaoke Night, beach parties, family nights and Cinco de Mayo.
