Army Family Team Building (AFTB)

AFTB is a volunteer-led organization with a central tenet: provide training and knowledge to spouses and Family Members to support the total Army effort. Strong Families are the pillar of support behind strong Soldiers. It is AFTB's mission to educate and train all of the Army in knowledge, skills, and behaviors designed to prepare our Army Families to move successfully into the future.

AFTB is designed to help individuals connect with their communities.

Our program offers everyone the chance to better understand the Army and challenges it brings to the Family.

AFTB gives people the skills and self confidence to reach out to other new residents and share information and resources. Our classes help prepare spouses and Soldiers to take on leadership positions in unit FRGs or Community Agencies.

AFTB Contributes
AFTB contributes to the Army mission by educating and training the Army Family to be self-sufficient leaders within their communities.

Connecting Families to the Army….One Class at a Time!

Level I courses are targeted toward people new to the Army or new to Fort Irwin, and focuses on the basic skills and knowledge needed to live the military life. Classes cover Army culture, impact of mission on the Family, and community resources.

Level II allows the participant to grow into a community leader. Courses offer students an opportunity to enhance professional skills in communication, conflict resolution, and relationship building. Students will walk away from this ready to work successfully in small groups and with increased knowledge of Family Readiness Groups and the importance of volunteering.

Level III courses are targeted toward emerging leaders within the Army Community by inspiring and mentoring others into leadership positions.. Courses offer students skill building activities in motivating and managing volunteers, advanced problem solving, leadership and presentation / briefing development.
